Elexis Ryan is the owner and founder of SHINE. She created SHINE based on her belief that all women are born to shine brightly, and they hold within them the power to transform into their best and most beautiful selves. SHINE is the culmination of a lifetime of passions and experiences that led to the creation of a unique business whose mission is to make women look and feel beautiful, cared for, and glowing from within.
From Science to Skincare
Elexis's early love of science has evolved into a keen interest in the science of skin care, and how to utilize ingredients and technology to reveal her clients' most radiant skin. As a college freshman, she was a national finalist in the NASA Space Science Student Involvement Program, where she presented her proposal for an experiment to measure muscle atrophy in astronauts to a team of educators and NASA scientists. She was interviewed and appeared on CNN's Science and Technology Week as a result, and was published in a book for educators focused on encouraging students to connect with the sciences through contests and competitions. She remains fascinated by the physiology of the body, and loves to educate her clients to make informed decisions about their skin care.
The Magic of Makeup
When your father and grandmother are both artists, you naturally inherit artistic genes! Elexis considers makeup an art form as well as a creative collaboration between client and artist. She is experienced with natural, bridal, photographic, and stage makeup, and also offers individual and group makeup lessons. She has worked as a freelance artist for Benefit Cosmetics, and has been the makeup artist for several competitors at the Mrs. America National Preliminary and Final Pageants.
Life Is Beautiful
Prior to devoting her career to esthetics, Elexis spent nearly 24 years in the corporate offices of some of the most well-known brands in the world, including Victoria's Secret, The Limited, and CO Bigelow. In addition to finance and store operations roles, she spent several years as an executive in merchandising and planning positions with Victoria's Secret, where she enjoyed frequent buying trips to New York City and Verona, Italy.
A graduate of the Spa Schools Group, Elexis is a licensed Advanced Esthetician in the state of Ohio, with certifications in dermaplaning, airbrush makeup, and spray tanning. She also holds a BA in Business Finance from Mount Union College, where she was a Varsity Football Cheerleader, Class Vice-President, and Finance VP of her sorority. She has been married for 14 years to Mike, and they live on a beautiful 5 acre mini-farm in Central Ohio with their two rescue horses, pet chickens, and lots and lots of makeup.
